I revamped the visual identity for the 33rd edition of the Tmavomodrý Festival, celebrating the talents of blind musicians. Tasked with capturing the essence of Brno and featuring a blind musician, I designed an unforgettable visual that aligned with the festival's theme.
Inspired by previous editions and engaged in a collaborative brainstorming session, I envisioned a silhouette of Brno's iconic landmarks as the backdrop. In the foreground, a blind musician in dark glasses took center stage, exuding musical expression. Employing a clean and visually appealing illustration style in blue tones, I curated a color palette that maintained continuity with the festival's visual history.
The strategic placement of the blind musician at the center allowed for versatile application across various promotional materials, including posters, flyers, roll-up banners, and Facebook event cover photos.
The initial design was swiftly and positively approved. Anticipation filled me as I awaited the opportunity to see my design come to life outside of my laptop, and it became a reality during a walk with a baby stroller. The posters took the entire barrel, rising proudly next to a McDonald's. As I toured these poster barrels displaying my designs prominently in the heart of Brno, a wave of satisfaction washed over me. What a feeling!
Despite the challenges of balancing the project with personal responsibilities, such as caring for a newborn, the creative process went smoothly. The satisfaction of seeing the design featured on numerous posters throughout the city added another layer of fulfillment to the project.
The positive feedback received following the festival confirmed the success of the new visual direction. Future editions may explore further development, possibly featuring additional musicians in promotional materials. This experience has not only helped shape the festival's visual identity but has also fueled my eagerness for future creative opportunities.
